Overview
Trautwein’s solutions take up little space and are economical to purchase and operate. In the background of the reverse vending machines, the returned bottles are stowed on a bottle table. There, an employee sorts them into the appropriate beverage crates. This bottle table is driven by a drum motor.

The challenge was to find a drum motor that was both robust and competitively priced. Rulmeca provided drum motors with planetary gears (LP) made of steel, polymer and a combination of polymer and steel. They are designed to carry comparatively lighter loads, they have comparatively lower torque but also quieter running. For Trautwein the variant with plugged polymer gearbox is absolutely sufficient and perfectly meets the company’s requirements in terms of durability, performance and economy. Thanks to the cooperation with Rulmeca, Trautwein can offer its customers from the food and beverage industry technically and economically efficient solutions in reverse vending systems sector.
In general, drum motors are the ultimate for Trautwein in this area of application: they are virtually maintenance-free, quiet, clean and, thanks to their compact design, require significantly less space than conventional motors. Also, with drum motors there are no exposed secondary drives such as toothed belts and toothed belt pulleys, which always pose a risk of crushing for employees. Moreover with drum motors are far fewer parts required, which makes the design of the reverse vending systems much simpler and much more elegant, at the same time minimizing wear and maintenance.
