Versatile Ball Transfer Units for Multi-Directional Movement and Heavy-Duty Applications

The various available constructions of ball transfer units allow movement in any direction (on a level plane) of any object with a sufficiently smooth, rigid and flat surface. The wide range available allows for an extremely extensive variety of applications and possibilities for installation, with admissible load capacities of between 15 daN and 2000 daN per ball. They are used for both transportation/logistics and for work surfaces and assembly/disassembly, both on machinery and transfer systems in the mechanical industry. The materials transported must have a contact surface that is rigid enough to avoid them buckling under their own weight, and while planning dimensions, it is necessary to assess how many points of contact the package (or in general the object transported) will have. The range of variants available differs in terms of material, shape and individual load capacity. On request, different materials, geometries and load capacities can be assessed.

The variant SPL 500 is made in black polyamide. It can be requested in varying constructions to allow different uses and methods of assembly. The support ball is always 1”, in either steel or polyamide, and runs on a number of small spheres contained in a case-hardened and tempered cap. Protection from contamination is guaranteed with a felt seal.

The SPR variant is made entirely in galvanised steel, and has an extremely sturdy moulded or machined sheet metal housing. The size of the main ball varies in line with the overall dimension.

As with the previous variant, the SPS variant has support balls in steel, made with high standards of precision and designed for particularly harsh conditions. Typical sectors of application are: transferring of items/packages, work surfaces of utensil machines, steel processing and heavy duty handling in general. Their construction means that they can be used at any orientation, as the main ball is always contained within a cage. Spring-loaded constructions are available for special applications, to compensate for or avoid overloading or impact, or where it is necessary for the support ball to retract. Caps are in case-hardened and tempered steel; the housing is burnished and the seals are in felt.
